A SCORNED ex-wife tried to destroy her husband’s dental career with “malicious and salacious” lies after they broke up.
Dina Williamson spun a web of deceit – claiming former partner Ben Williamson was drinking alcohol between treating his patients.
She threatened to report him to the General Dental Council unless he paid her more money from their divorce settlement.
Williamson, 39, also posted on the private practice’s Facebook page that some of the male dental surgeons were unfaithful to their wives.
When Ben blocked her, she replied: “No chance of a reply? See you at my funeral then?”
Williamson then went through with the “vexatious” threat and told the regulatory body about the drinking allegations.
The GDC launched an investigation into the false accusations – with Ben having to wait nine months before he was formally cleared of any wrongdoing.
Williamson pleaded guilty to blackmail but avoided jail and was given a suspended prison sentence instead.
She was also ordered to stay away from her ex-husband.
Sentencing, Judge Jonathan Fuller said Williamson had tried to wreck her Ben’s reputation and career because she was “embittered” at feeling she was treated unfairly in the divorce settlement.
Lydia Stephens, prosecuting, said the couple, who have children from previous relationships, met in 2019 and married in 2022.
The court heard Williamson’s behaviour changed due to her use of cannabis and the pair split up and divorced in 2024.
Ms Stephens told Bournemouth Crown Court: “In March 2025 Dina Williamson raised the issue of going to the GDC.
“In April 2025 Ben Williamson made it clear he didn’t want to speak to her and to communicate through his solicitors. He blocked her.
“In May 2025 matters escalated and Dina Williamson messaged him saying she couldn’t pay her rent and it all feels like a death sentence.
“She said she felt she had exhausted all options and didn’t want to go to the GDC but she was left with no option.
“The message went on to say ‘I am relying on foodbanks and credit cards are maxed out. I don’t want to ruin your career going to the GDC.”
