A list of some of the organisations and groups that provide support, advice and assistance to people affected by false allegations. Some have a broad scope; others are more specific in their support and activities.

FACT
UK‘Facing Allegations in Contexts of Trust’ supports people throughout the UK — and their spouses or partners — who have been accused of misconduct, usually abuse or assault, but who maintain their innocence. They publish a newsletter and link to relevant books and blogs.

FASO
UKThe False Allegation Support Organisation is a UK-based voluntary organisation supporting people affected by false allegations of abuse. It links to helpful documents — for example on prisoner parole hearings and child protection — alongside news updates and information on the UK criminal process.

APPEAL
UKA charity and law practice dedicated to fighting miscarriages of justice and demanding reform, taking on the cases of people with unsafe convictions or unfair sentences who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer themselves.

Innocence Network UK
UKA group ‘educating to overturn and prevent the wrongful conviction of innocent people’ that ran from 2004 to 2015. Its website still hosts helpful articles on problems with the legal system and the case for legal reform in the UK.

USAOne of the best-known organisations actively working to overturn wrongful convictions in the US. It also pursues case-law and policy reform to help prevent and address wrongful convictions, and supports exonerees after release.
